Description: The Adams National Historical Park covers four generations of the Adams family. There are four main sites to visit in the park: the birthplace of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, Peacefield, and the Stone Library. There are guided full park tours that last approximately 2 hours and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Within Boston's National Historical Park there are many sights to see, such as Faneuil Hall, Bunker Hill Monument, Battle of Bunker Hill Museum, Charlsetown Navy Yard, the USS Cassin Young, and the USS Constitution. As well as all of those, Boston has some amazing museums to visit such as the Boston Children's Museum and the Boston Tea Party Museum.

Description: The Essex National Heritage Area covers land from the Atlantic Ocean to the Merrimack River. Within this historic area are seaports, white clapboard buildings, historic farms, boat building shops, industrial era mills, and wildlife refuges. There are tons of different places to visit in this area and more information on specifics can be found at www.essexheritage.org.

Description: The birthplace of JFK offers guided tours of the house, which last approximately 30 minutes. There are also self guided audio tours offered in the afternoons from 330pm-430pm. The tour is narrated by Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, President Kennedy's mother. Maps are also provided for self guided tours of areas of interest in the local neighborhood.

The Walden Pond Reservation is considered the birthplace of the conservation movement, due to the inspiration that Henry David Thoreau found while living there. Because of his influential Walden, the site is also designated as a National Historic Landmark. In the summer the reservation is a favorite swimming spot, and in fall and spring, hikers frequent the trails around the pond. There are guided programs and walks throughout the year that highlight the importance of conservation and the influence of Thoreau on the movement.

Lorraine Park campgrounds are located within the Harold Parker State Forest, and are available late may through early September for use. There are 89 campsites available for primitive camping. There are picnic tables and grills at each site, and the showers do have hot water.

Description: Boston Minutemen Campground is open late April through mid October every year. Their rental sites include cabins, tents, or full service RV sites. RV sites fill up quick, so reserve them early. The camp has a heated pool, enclosed dog walk, rec hall, sports activities, camp store, playground, and a movie lending library.

Description: Boston Harbor Islands offer primitive Tent camping on three of the islands - Bumpkin, Lovells, or Grape. Group sites are also available upon reservation. Camping season runs from late may through the beginning of October. These islands offer rustic camping, meaning no restrooms, no showers, no fresh water, electricity, telephones, or supplies - so bring everything you need.

Description:

The Wompatuck State Park offers two different camping areas. Camping area one is reserved for tent camping, and tenting area two is RV camping. Camping season is mid April through late October. There are no swimming facilities in the park.

Camping season is early May through mid October, but off season camping is available on weekends from mid October to late November. The camp also has primitive tent sites.
